Biography
Natalia Sinkovsky was born in Semipalatinsk, Kazakhstan in 1959. As a child, she practiced music and took art classes, but it was the combination of her artistic skill and mathematic interest that led her to study architecture. Sinkovsky graduated from the Ust-Kamenogorsk Building Institute in 1981 with a Master’s Degree in Architecture. She worked as an architect and interior designer for the city of Leninogorsk, Kazakhstan, until she immigrated to Israel with her family in 1995. After moving to Israel, Sinkovsky continued to work as an architect and interior designer, and participated in several large corporate projects, including designing a museum for one of the largest corporations in Israel. Sinkovsky began to experiment with sculpture in 2003, while her artistic hobby of painting evolved as a profession. Soon afterwards, her works were exhibited in Israel and abroad. Israel was the first place she had ever seen the sea, from which she draws inspiration for her works. The sea is a source of happiness for her; she employs bright, cheerful colors and images of sailboats to convey her positive outlook on life. Using brushes and palette knives, she applies acrylic paint in a thick application to the blank canvas without a prior sketch, and later adds small graphic elements for more detail. Her admiration for the Expressionist art movement is manifested in her dramatic, crashing waves and graceful boat sails, while her architectural background is also evident in her balanced and orderly composition.
